New Hartford is located just southwest of downtown Utica, NY and is easily reached from the NYS Thruway (I-90) Exit 31, and by NYS Routes 5, 8 and 12. It is one of the fastest growing areas in Oneida County and is considered the regional "Shopping Mecca" with its numerous malls and specialty shops. Colgate University, Hamilton College, the State University at New York IT, and Mohawk Valley Community College are all within a short distance.

New Hartford was the site of the first ingrain loom for the manufacture of fine carpets in the 18th Century, the making of the first cut nails and the second cotton mill in the state. Prior to the building of the Erie Canal, New Hartford did more business than Utica.

The surrounding area offers many recreational facilities and parks, including the great Adirondack Mountains, with the beautiful Mohawk Valley as a backdrop. Downhill skiing, snowmobiling, Olympic sports, boating, golfing and hiking are all within easy reach.
